Richard Strauss was born on 11 June, 1864 and died on 8 September, 1949. Richard Strauss was a German composer of the late Romantic era and early modern era, particularly noted for his tone poems and operas. Richard was also a noted conductor. In 1882 he entered Munich University, where he studied philosophy and art history, but not music. Nevertheless, Richard left a year later to go to Berlin, where he studied briefly before securing a post as assistant conductor to Hans von Bülow, taking over from him at Munich when von Bülow resigned in 1885. Richard's compositions around this time were quite conservative, in the style of Robert Schumann or Felix Mendelssohn, true to his father's teachings. David Joseph Bohm was on born on 20 December, 1917, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and died on 27 October 1992, in London. David was an American-born quantum physicist who made significant contributions in the fields of theoretical physics, philosophy and neuropsychology, and to the Manhattan Project. Bohm also suffered great distress when forced by McCarthyism to leave his home country in the early '50s on account of the Marxist views he held at that time. He found refuge in Brazil, but had a hard time far away from home without friends and colleagues, and was subject to bouts of depression.
